The fair!

Jocelyn had a blast at the fair yesterday! It sounds like a lot of our friends were there, but I think we left shortly before everyone else arrived, so we didn't see anyone!

Here's Jocelyn with her first taste of fair food (a corndog):

Lee and Jocelyn both saying "Moo" to the cow:

Jocelyn had the choice of looking at the camera or looking at the cow ... you can see which she chose:

These painted animals have been at the mall, roped off with signs saying not to touch them. Jocelyn was THRILLED to finally be able to touch them!

Have YOU hugged a painted horse today?

Who knew livestock could be so exciting?

Loving the petting zoo!

She could not get enough of the goats!

Pretending to feed the goat (she discovered that the goats would nibble on her fingers if she pretended that she was holding something, so she kept fooling the goats!)

She loved the camel, but she was a little too intimidated to pet it. The goats were more her style (and size)!

Note the chocolate on her face in this one (from the fried Snickers bar) as well as the piece of funnel cake in her hand:

Still loving the painted animals!

Riding back to Daddy's office on Mommy's shoulders!

Stopping to smell the flowers ...

When we were at UNC a few weeks ago, we spent a LONG time in the arboretum. Jocelyn is insisting upon smelling flowers (even pictures of flowers in her books) right now, so there were few flowers left unsniffed!

Smelling a pretty red flower

Smelling a dead flower

Watching bugs (which she calls "bubbas") on the stones

Making sure that I saw the "bubba"

Loving the flowers!

Smelling some ...

Smelling some more ...

Trying to decide which one to smell next ...

Smelling once again...

Just burying her head in the flowers to smell them all!

Making sure she doesn't miss ANY!

Showing me another "bubba" (see the ladybug to the right of her thumb)

Taking it all in

BugFest!

A couple weekends ago we headed downtown for BugFest! It was a hit with Jocelyn, and while I'm a little concerned that she now thinks that it's okay to touch any bug she sees, we skipped over the edible bug concoctions (still not so sure that they were edible, though people were indeed eating them) so we didn't teach her that it's okay to eat any bug she sees.

Jocelyn pointing at ...

... these creepy crawlies!

Despite looking a little concerned about the bug, she was touching it moments later ... and then when we were leaving and walked by this table again, she pointed and asked to touch it again. Eww!

Sadly, this is the closest we got to a bug-touching picture, but I promise you she touched a lot of different bugs!

Checking out the bees

And, since we were downtown, we took a few pictures on the ground of the capitol. Lee and Jocelyn examining some piece of weaponry

"Wow, Mommy, he's big!"

By the way, I've noticed that being sick does wonders for my blogging. I have now exceeded my highest number of posts in a single month ... and it's only October 6th!
