Christmas morning, part one

The girl comes down the stairs...

...and begins running when she sees the presents! (Note: the darkness in the window since my kids are early risers any day of the year, the much-loved Fisher Price nativity set in the background, and the mildly irritated cat who bolted shortly after this picture was taken since he wanted nothing to do with the, um, volume of our children's exuberance)
From December 2009

This was my best shot of her riding the pony. Hmm, I'll have to work on getting a better picture!
From December 2009

Uh, yes, my kid did get a duster in her stocking. And she was thrilled! And she has dusted everything she can (including her brother) since then, so it was a wise choice to include it.

Honestly, I think we could have stopped after the stockings, and Jocelyn would have been just fine with that!

He then attempted to eat a Snicker's bar, though that pesky wrapper foiled his attempts and then Daddy safely disposed of it.

He may look sweet here, but this is a before shot. Before what? Before Robzilla took out all of Bethlehem (including the penguin, lion, turtle, giraffes, and elephant that Jocelyn included on the left). He looks sweet and timid, but he can be a destructive force!
From December 2009

In the picture below, Jocelyn had just unwrapped one of Robbie's presents and was showing him his new camera rattle. Robs was eating puffs and totally ignoring her. So Jocelyn just continued playing with his toy!

That's enough for now, since the next set of pictures begin with a wardrobe change for Jocelyn, providing a nice transition. Be expecting part two soon!

December flurries

We almost missed the much-anticipated December snow event here because it ain't easy to suit up two squirmy little blessings! (And because the event was, well, a bit of a flop.) We did make it out in time for Jocelyn to be excited and Robs to be confused by it all. Jocelyn was smiling, running, laughing, and sticking her tongue out to catch flakes in her mouth, all while sporting her oh-so-impressive toddler style of insisting on a dress with her sweatsuit; Robs was looking at me as if to say, "Uh, Mom. This is cold. And wet. What made you think I would like it? However, big sister sure is funny to watch!" And as for me? I have to admit my reaction to snow is about the same as my daughter's. I'm not sure if I've even seen snow ten times in my life, having grown up as a Florida girl and then living in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas for a couple years, so I giggle with my little princess as the flakes fall! And I'm hoping for a legitimate snow event here soon!!!

Bouncin' with friends

In the middle of December, the kids and I headed to a bouncy place in Wilson with our friends. It's fun to hang out with them since Ashlynn and Jocelyn are only six months apart and Robs and Everett are only a few days apart - so precious to see them growing up!

I love Ashlynn's smile as she tumbles on to the slide!
From December 2009

Does it suprise you that Jocelyn is in motion and a bit blurry? No, of course not!
From December 2009

We pretty much had the place to ourselves, which was nice for the little guys! (And don't you love Theresa's mei tai? I love baby carriers, and while we're plenty happy with the Ergo, it looks more utilitarian than pretty like Theresa's! However, Lee will wear the utilitarian one, so no plans to change any time soon!)
From December 2009

This may look daunting to other two-year-olds (though - *gulp* - my baby girl will only be two for 15 more days!), but not our girls!

And this place had a nice play area if you wanted to take a break from the big bouncing stuff. I think the kiddos enjoyed it just as much as they loved big stuff!

Jocelyn, still bouncing no matter where she is!

Jocelyn read every book they had! Quite the bibliophile - like mother, like daughter!

Of course, we needed to take some shots of the boys side-by-side, so we plopped Robs down in the double-stroller next to Everett! Ev-man couldn't be bothered to wake up :) but Robs was willing to be a little ham. Such cute little guys!

Jocelyn's ... er ... Robbie's chair

I am oh-so-thankful that we went mostly gender-neutral on toys when Jocelyn was little because it means that Robs has plenty to play with. (And, on that note, I must add that it's a good thing that he's too little to realize that he got WAY fewer Christmas gifts than anyone else since he already has plenty. And since this year he considered the best part of any gift to be the bows and wrapping paper!)

My mom bought this for Jocelyn for her first Christmas (I think), and now it is Robs' favorite toy.
Which, of course, means that Jocelyn now thinks it's fun again, though she does usually let him play with it with minimal protest.
