Road trip treasures
/
Since I last posted, little man turned one; we drove five kabillion miles to South Texas and back (okay, okay, it was only 1640 miles each way, 3280 total, but I'm pretty sure that rounds up to five kabillion); all of April happened; my hubby got me a new fridge and washer and dryer (um, yes, he does rock!); we planted a bunch of fruits and veggies and herbs and flowers; I finished my last ever spring semester of my MAEd; I had a blessed girls' weekend with two sweet momma friends while our husbands took care of the kiddos; and we've had a lovely mix of doctor's appointments and playdates and skinned knees. In other words, a whole lot of LIFE has happened between blog posts.
Which means a whole lot of pictures.
Which means a whole lot of posts with pictures. Especially during this two-week break before summer sessions of grad school take off.
Because I am in the process of uploading many of those pictures, I'll start with some road trip pictures that I already have on the computer. One of my favorite things about road trips is the unexpected treasures you find along the way. Treasures like this sweet, deserted Rotary Park in El Campo, Texas. Jocelyn didn't even pause for a picture when we got out of the car, leaving me with this first shot.

Wow, I love these three!

Have I mentioned that I love these three? 'Cause I do.

Oh, and speaking of treasures, we found this gem right around the corner from the park. It's a truck. And it's a hunting stand.

Ah, I love Texas.

Blessings at Nana's house
/
It's been almost a month since my last blog post. Sorry, folks! This semester has been pushing me to the brink, but because I opted to overdo it now, I'll be able to graduate in December. I'm still not sure what, if anything, I'll do with my fancy schmancy graduate degree, since I'm quite content being a stay-at-home momma, but I'll leave those future plans up to God! I'm just trying to figure out tomorrow...
Anyway, that's not what I came to post. I hopped over here toprocrastinate because I don't want to finish, er, start my literature review for my thesis tell y'all about our Saturday at my grandmother's house. It's a sweet blessing to have my kids know my grandmother since I didn't know any great-grandparents and only have fuzzy memories of two of my grandparents. Jocelyn and Robbie are blessed to have both of our parents in good health, as well as three living great-grandparents. How precious!
Nana has a beautiful backyard, so I always make sure I bring the camera with us. Since we won't be with her for Easter, I decked the kids out in their Sunday best for her. I was planning to have Jocelyn's dream dress in her Easter basket, but I broke it out early. She was ecstatic, since she had been salivating over at Target for weeks and had recently begun referring to it as "my dress at the store." Funny girl!
And, of course, every princess needs accessories. I didn't get a shot of the full effect, but here is the girl and her tiara.
And I don't think there's much cuter than a little man in a tie.
A girl has to pout sometimes. Especially if her mom is acting a little too paparazzi-esque.
I had to get creative to get the girl to be in the picture willingly.
Perhaps, though, asking her toperform the Heimlich on hug her brother wasn't the best idea.
The kiss was much more gentle.
So I settled for Jocelyn in motion. Which, after all, is the most authentic representation of her!
Yes, I took a lot of pictures. I admit it. But, seriously, would you want to miss this?
And you surely wouldn't want to miss this picture of Jocelyn as she explains that, when she grows up, she wants to be a firefighter and use a big hose!
And then the firefighter wanted to explore flowers.
But she still didn't want to be posed for any pictures. No, sirree.
But my guys are willing subjects!
I finally got them both.
Albeit with tears.
And drama.
She may be determined. But I know where she got that determination, and I still have more.
See, you never would have known that drama had preceded this if I hadn't shown you!
We even got smiles!
However, be careful if you tell my girl to smile big. It gets kind of scary-looking.
Natural smiles aren't so scary, though. Beautiful, actually.
Hmm, am I pushing my luck at this point?
Methinks the natives are getting restless.
Uh-oh. Robbie has found something more interesting than the crazy lady with the camera, and Jocelyn has begun playing with her skirt.
Yep, they're fading fast.
And I won't put the last one up here, but let's just say that nothing ends a photo shoot quite like the girl lifting her skirt above her head. I deserve it, though. I had pushed for more pictures than I knew their patience would allow!
So how's that for making up for my long absence from the blogosphere? I have another gaggle or two of pictures to post (birthday party, Super Bowl, and so on), so more posts will come. No promises, though, on when they will happen. The semester wraps up in the next six weeks or so, though, and then I can return to the world of the living again!
And, lest you think Sir Robs looks too grown-up in the previous pictures, check out the drool in these. Yep, he's still my teething baby, even if he is a little man!

Not my greatest idea

The cupcakes for Jocelyn's birthday party (take one, which was cancelled due to snow) looked perfect. Some with pink icing, and some with off-white, each with a Dora or Boots ring centered on top. But perhaps the pink wasn't the best choice...

Flashback Friday: Imprisoned, Then and Now

Once upon a time (in December 2007), we had a little one who was 10 months old. She liked the stairs. She did not like being trapped by gate bars at the bottom.

Am I the only one who thinks angry babies are kinda cute? And that Robbie looks like he could be singing an emotional ballad on American Idol in the last picture?
