Glimpses of our roadtrip: Eastery birthday cupcakes

We were at our dear friends' house in Alabama for Robbie's first birthday. Bev and Daley made our handsome little man some Easter bunny cupcakes.

Aren't they cute?

Robs wasn't sure what to think.

But eventually he figured out that it was food. (Daddy might have modeled that for him. Or maybe me. Or both of us.)

The bunny is down one ear. And Robbie is looking at the camera as if to say, "Umm, Mom, why all the pictures? Are you going to bore everyone with a blog play-by-play of this?" And the answer is yes. Yes, son, I am.

And the next play involved further destruction.

And then expressions of generosity.

And excitement.

Cake in the hair? Awesome.

Oh, that's how that got there!

And I failed to get any pictures of Max (the dog), but he had happily positioned himself under Robbie's seat. And he was a little sick the next day.

I love my guys.

And my girl, who also approved of the cupcakes.

Glimpses of our roadtrip: When you promise a little girl a pool...

...she won't care if the heater isn't working. You will, though.

Words that come to mind: frigid. painful. numb.

The words Jocelyn thought of when I showed her these pictures: good. playing. fun.

So I guess it wasn't a total loss.

I did get in with her at one point, but Robbie had more sense than the rest of us. He sat on the side and splashed a little, and then he was done.

And the hot tub? Colder than the pool. Yep, disappointing!
