I'm gonna take a redo...

...on my birthday. Turning 27 hasn't been so grand. We got very little sleep, since Lee was working as part of his Urban Search-and-Rescue team on rescue and recovery at the Garner ConAgra plant collapse until 2am (and then headed back out after just a short rest). Lee had to deal with some rather tough stuff out there today, and I've barely seen him in the past 36 hours. My joints are acting up, so the rings are back off. Jocelyn had an infection (yes, maybe my MRSA, but we don't know yet) on her thumb - right on her good ol' thumb-sucking callus - that we had to have drained and bandaged this afternoon. From personal experience, I can say that it's not fun when you're 26 to have that done; from a momma's perspective, I can say it's much worse when it's your 2 1/2 year old. Due to all of this, Jocelyn missed her nap, making the evening difficult. I also had to do some grad school work that I fell behind on during my bout with MRSA. Then I couldn't request the book I wanted from the library because they messed up my account when I got a new card last week, and they can't figure out how to fix it right now. And I had to miss Bible study tonight. And Robbie has already woken up once (which is why I'm awake typing this instead of in bed sleeping, like I was not long ago).

So I'm taking a redo. I think I'm declaring Saturday as June 10, part 2. I'm not having a June 13 this year. I'm not sure what our plans will be for Saturday, but I think it has to be better than today.

(I must say, though, that I am incredibly proud of the important work Lee was doing. And I now have an even greater respect for the wives of those whose husbands serve us in dangerous places in the US and abroad after having Lee spend the last couple of days donning Hazmat suits and going in and out of an unstable structure to rescue and recover missing people. Furthermore, I got a great book from my parents that I'll be writing about in a future blogpost, and I know a couple more presents that are on their way, including the three seasons of Gilmore Girls that I was missing from my collection and a shirt from Wild Olive Tees, a great place for pretty shirts with a great message. And our friends the Lords let me and the kids invade yesterday evening for dinner and post-dinner fun - including bubbles for Jocelyn and the Lord kiddos and a chocolate bacon bar for me and Heather (yes, you read that correctly: a chocolate bar. with bacon in it. and overenthusiastic instructions for its consumption) - which made my birthday eve much easier. So it hasn't been all bad ... but, despite that, I am completely spent. And I'm still claiming my do-over for a few days from now. G'night.)
